About us

QRLand started from a single irritation: people print a QR code on a business card, a menu or a sign, and one day it stops working. Not because of a technical fault — because of a commercial decision. The subscription lapsed, so the code was switched off. This site exists to be a tool where that is impossible.

  • Free forever
  • No account needed
  • No scan limits

The problem we set out to solve

Most QR tools sell dynamic codes. A dynamic code does not contain your address; it contains the provider's short link. The phone goes to their server first, and is redirected to you from there. That structure enables exactly one thing: the provider can switch your code off whenever they choose.

What happens in practice is this. The 14-day trial ends, and the code on 5,000 already-printed flyers now leads to a payment page instead of your menu. At that point the customer has no leverage: pay, or throw away the print run. That is not an accident. It is the business model.

It is also why one of the category leaders sits at 1.5 out of 5 on Trustpilot. People are not complaining about the tool. They are complaining about the lock they discovered afterwards.

Our approach

QRLand generates static codes only. The content lives inside the pattern itself; the phone scanning it never touches our servers. The direct consequences:

  • We cannot switch your code off — there is no such button on our side to press
  • We cannot track you — scans do not pass through us, so we have no idea who scanned what or when
  • Your code survives us — if this site shuts down, what you printed keeps working
  • We cannot start charging you — there would be no mechanism to enforce it

None of that is a promise. It is a consequence of the architecture. Promises can be withdrawn; architecture cannot.

How we stay up

The site is nothing but static files: no server generating codes, no database, no redirect infrastructure. QR encoding runs in your browser. That is why our costs barely move as visitor numbers grow.

The remainder is covered by advertising, under one rule: an ad never comes between you and your code. No ads between the creation steps, no full-screen units, no "watch an ad and then download". The details are on the privacy page.

Because we are not selling a paid plan, we never have to lock a feature. Logos, vector export, maximum resolution and every design option are open to everyone.

On the engineering side

We wrote the QR encoder (ISO/IEC 18004) from scratch rather than using an existing library. The reason is control: module shape, eye style, gradients and logo placement can only be changed freely if you own the engine.

  • Verified — with the mask fixed, our matrices match a reference library exactly across 2,856 test cases
  • End-to-end tested — generated codes are decoded again with a real QR reader
  • Optimal segmentation — numeric, alphanumeric and byte modes are chosen by dynamic programming to find the cheapest sequence, which measurably shrinks the code
  • Readability enforced — contrast ratio and module coverage are measured, and settings that produce an unreadable pattern are not offered at all
  • Lossless print output — the image embedded in the PDF is Deflate-compressed rather than JPEG, so the sharp edges of the modules survive

Frequently asked questions

Will QRLand introduce a paid plan?

It cannot in any meaningful sense. The codes you create are static and never pass through our servers; there is no technical lever we could use to force payment. Even if the site closed, your printed codes would keep working.

Do you store the codes I create?

No. Encoding runs in your browser and the content is never sent to a server. Open the page, disconnect from the internet, and it keeps working.

Is commercial use allowed?

Yes. We claim no rights over the codes you create; use them on packaging, signage, business cards and advertising freely.
