Why is this generator completely free?
The standard business model in this industry works like this: you get a "free" dynamic QR code, you print it on 5,000 flyers, and two weeks later the trial ends. The code no longer points to your menu — it points to a payment page. Your print run is now worthless unless you subscribe.
That is not a bug. It is the product. A dynamic code stores the provider's short link inside the pattern, not your address, so the provider keeps a switch they can flip at any time.
We only generate static codes. Your content lives inside the pattern itself. There is no redirect, no server of ours in the path, and therefore no switch for us to flip. We could not charge you later even if we wanted to — and that is exactly the point.

Privacy: your QR content never leaves your device
The entire QR encoding algorithm runs inside this page's JavaScript. Your Wi-Fi password, phone number, IBAN or contact details are never sent to any server — not to us, not to anyone. You do not have to take our word for it. You can prove it.
The decisive test: open the page, then disconnect from the internet completely and keep generating codes. The tool works perfectly, and so do the downloads. That would be impossible if any of your data needed to reach a server.
Full disclosure: to keep the site free we show Google ads, and those load from Google's servers. So yes, you will see ad-related requests in your developer tools' Network tab. What you will not see is a single request carrying the content you typed into your QR code. That content goes nowhere. We wrote down exactly what the ads collect on the privacy page.

Is creating a QR code free?
On this site, yes. You can create unlimited QR codes for free; no account, no card details, no subscription. No watermark is added either.
Will my QR code expire?
No. The codes generated here are static: the content is embedded in the pattern. A phone scanning the code never contacts a server, so there is nothing to expire and nobody who can disable it. Even if this site shut down entirely, your printed code would keep working.
Can I edit the code later?
Static codes cannot be edited — that is the price of them never expiring. If you need to change the destination later, point the code at a redirect you control (a short link on your own domain). Then it is both permanent and editable.
What happens if the destination goes offline?
The code itself is unaffected; it still returns the same address. But if that address is no longer live, the browser shows an error page. The distinction matters: the code is permanent, the lifetime of the destination is up to you. For anything going to print, point the code at a stable path on your own domain (for example yoursite.com/menu) so you can change the page content without touching the code.
Does the code work without an internet connection?
It depends on the type. Text, Wi-Fi, contact card, MeCard, phone, SMS, location and IBAN codes carry all their information inside the pattern and work with no connection at all. Link, menu, WhatsApp, Instagram and app codes carry an address, and reaching that address needs internet.
Is my data stored anywhere?
No. Encoding runs entirely in your browser; the content you put in a QR code is never sent to a server and never stored. The clearest way to verify this is to open the page, disconnect from the internet, and keep generating and downloading — it works. The site does show Google ads which load from Google, but your QR content is not sent to them either.
If the site is free, how do you make money?
Ads. Instead of charging you, we show Google AdSense ads. Our placement rule is strict: an ad never comes between you and your code. There are no ads between the steps of creating one, no full-screen ads, no countdowns, no "watch an ad to download". You will only see ads inside the article sections and after your download has finished. Because we are not selling a paid plan, we never have to lock a feature.
Can I use the codes commercially?
Yes. We claim no rights over the codes you create; use them on packaging, signage, business cards and advertising freely.
How much data fits in a QR code?
At the highest version (40) with the lowest error correction, the theoretical limit is 4,296 alphanumeric characters or 7,089 digits. But density rises with data and scanning gets harder, so in practice staying under 300 characters is the healthiest choice.
